Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate Shareholder Fred Karlinsky was a presenter at the IRES Foundation 19th Annual National School on Market Regulation, held April 15-17, 2012, in Austin, Texas.  Mr. Karlinsky's speech, entitled "Insurance Holding Company Essentials" was co-presented by Kevin Brady, Associate Commissioner of the Texas Department of Insurance.

Mr. Karlinsky and Associate Commissioner Brady discussed insurance holding company laws and recent amendments to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' Insurance Holding Company System Regulatory Act and Regulation (Models #440 and #450).  Their presentation covered acquisition and ownership, pre-acquisition notice, registration, prior notice transactions, enterprise risk, examinations, supervisory colleges and confidentiality.

Mr. Karlinsky is a respected leader in the fields of insurance regulatory law and government affairs, as well as insurance transactional law. He is a frequent guest speaker on insurance legislative and regulatory matters at national, international and corporate insurance conferences. Mr. Karlinsky also helped establish Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate's annual statewide insurance conference in Florida that attracts more than 500 insurance and reinsurance executives, state and federal regulators and elected leaders, as well as other related industry professionals. He is admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of the Senior Courts of England and Wales and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Florida State University College of Law. Mr. Karlinsky was also named in Chambers USA 2011 among the top insurance lawyers in Florida.

Mr. Karlinsky holds the highest rating of "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named in Florida Trend's Legal Elite, as well as the Top Lawyers Section of the South Florida Legal Guide, and inclusion in Florida Super Lawyers magazine. He has also helped the firm attain the AM Best "Best Recommended Attorney" status and was named a "Key Partner" in 2010 by the South Florida Business Journal.

Mr. Karlinsky was appointed by Florida Governor Rick Scott to the Judicial Nominating Commission in 2011. He also was appointed to the Florida State University Foundation Board of Trustees that same year.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, Broward County Bar Association, Miami-Dade County Bar Association, Tallahassee Bar Association, AmComp, the American Corporate Counsel Association, the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists, the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators and the Federation of Regulatory Counsel. 

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami and his Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law.
